Oatmeal Coffee Stout First In Canada To Have Fair Trade Seal

One Good Brew Deserves Another – Coffee Beer Combo Ready For Launch

Like a mad scientist, George Eagleson, F&M Brewery’s head brewer has been working on our second release of his wonderful creation melding two of the Guelph’s most flavourful brands.

The brewery is about to launch it’s mouth watering seasonal brew.  Stonehammer Oatmeal Coffee Stout, infused Planet Bean’s fresh roasted beans as the signature enhancement is going into it’s second year!

Due to the overwhelming demand produced the first year, F&M has committed brewing a larger amount of this mouth watering beer for this winter season.

To ensure everyone gets a chance to try it, the brewery will also be offering Stonehammer Oatmeal Coffee Stout in bottles through their retail store and through certain licensees.

The beer will be the first in Canada to have the Transfair Canada seal of fair trade authentication because the coffee used in the flavouring of the stout is fair trade certified.  “Although the coffee represents a tiny percentage of the ingredients of the stout, identifying it as fair trade is a great way to promote the Transfair seal in a new market”, says Planet Bean’s Bill Barrett.  Fair trade ensures farmers in the Third World receive a fair price for their products.

“Stout and coffee are the perfect combination – both dark roasted and full-bodied.  I’m really proud of this one – this truly is history in the tasting,” – Quote from George

“This is an excellent partnership which builds on the success of our two locally celebrated brands”, commented Planet Bean Coffee’s Byron Cunningham.  “It is the kind of partnership between Guelph small businesses that can help us weather the economic storm.”
